Welcome to "The Friends of Cradle Valley" website.

Who are we?

The Friends of Cradle Valley are a community-based advocacy group that was formed in February 1992, operating previously under different names such as the Cradle Mountain Advisory Group and the Friends of Cradle Valley CARes group.

The Friends of Cradle Valley brings together people who share an interest and concern for the care and conservation of the Cradle Mountain - Lake St Clair National Park.

Some of our members are young, others are retirees. Some of us are keen bushwalkers, some are commercial operators and some just love the place. Within this key stakeholders' group, there is a great wealth and diversity of experience.

7/03/2018 Cradle Mountain Wombats Report is good news

The wombats at Cradle are a major tourism drawcard with thousands of visitors seeking the thrill of getting close to "cute & cuddly" Australian wildlife. PWS with the assistance of Wildcare have been monitoring the main populations at Ronny Creek and near the Park entrance since Nov 2016 to ascertain health, numbers and visitor impact. 2/03/2018 Cradle Mountain Road Works

This is to advise that road works will be undertaken on the Cradle Mountain Road in the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park between the 5th-30th March.

Six passing bays will be constructed between the Park Entrance boom gate and Ronny Creek to provide for the safe passage of larger shuttle buses to meet increasing visitor demand and to comply with new disability legislation.

To ensure the safety of road workers and to minimise traffic congestion on this narrow road, there will be restrictions on the number of private vehicles entering the park between 8.30am and 4pm.

There will be no changes to the shuttle bus operations, however visitors should expect short delays enroute to/from Dove Lake of up to 15 minutes.

The Snake Hill bus stop will also be temporarily closed for approximately 1 week whilst the adjacent passing bay is constructed.
